Urgent Notice
AUG 2018 | Posted by Michael Beary | Wheaten IL

I regret to inform all of you that JUST has been officially notified that Sheriff Zaruba has decided, at his sole discretion, to terminate the current agreement between JUST of DuPage and the DuPage County Sheriff office effective on Monday, September 10, 2018. Classes will continue as normal until Sunday, September 9, 2018. Thereafter, all of the Spiritual, Worship, Addiction Recovery, Education, and Social Services provided to the inmates by JUST staff and volunteers will be terminated at that time.

As you can imagine, we are all shocked and devastated that the invaluable work that JUST has provided for over 30 years to our brothers and sisters incarcerated in the jail will have to cease for a time. We will, of course, keep all of you informed of any further developments. Please know that JUST will be working hard to deal with this current situation, and with God's help, will bring us back stronger than ever in the upcoming new administration.

Starting on September 11th, we will be working out of our outside JUST office, located at 213 S Wheaton Ave, Wheaton IL 60187. At that time we ask that you contact us at our JUST email addresses below. Our DuPage Sheriff E-mail accounts will be terminated, and we will be unable to contact you. If for any reason you receive contact from the DuPage County Sheriff Administration, please contact one of us immediately.

We ask for your prayers and support during this difficult transition. However, most importantly, we want to thank you. Your on-going support and service to this great cause has enabled countless inmates to pursue rehabilitation. Our supporters and volunteers are our core, and without you all, JUST would not have created this wonderful legacy. But remember this is only goodbye, and not farewell.

We need your financial support to keep our staff paid and ready for our expected re-launch. Please consider giving today. Michael Beary - Executive Director michaelbeary@justofdupage.org

Our fourth annual 5k is on Sept 23rd, 2017
June, 2017 | Posted by JUST | Wheaten IL

We are pleased to announce the details for our fourth annual 5k Run/Walk. This year, JUST of DuPage is very excited to be partnering with NAMI DuPage to organize an even more successful community event, at a new location. The RUN for the Mind 5k Run/Walk will take place on Saturday, September 23 at 8:00 a.m., at the NAMI Community Center, across from the jail at 115 N. County Farm Road in Wheaton. Following the race, there will be an awards ceremony and BBQ as well as an indoor community health/vendor fair.

NAMI stands for the National Alliance for Mental Illness. Our own medical staff at the jail estimate that 50% of the inmates have a diagnosable mental illness. County jails and prisons have become the mental health institutions of the country as states cut their mental health budgets.

You can help us have a positive impact on countless lives-and demonstrate your concern and compassion for the incarcerated and mental health communities. Please support the RUN for the Mind as a race participant, pledging donations with the support of friends and family, or as a race sponsor. Sponsors' names will appear at the start/finish line signs, on the JUST of DuPage website, and on the t-shirts that are provided to all registrants. In addition, sponsors will be eligible to participate in the health/vendor fair at the community center.

While registration fees help to cover the costs of hosting a successful event, the real difference to JUST of DuPage is in getting pledges and sponsorships to help support our programs. As a friend and supporter of JUST, would you consider raising $250 in pledges? You can use this information links and pledge form listed below to put your team in place-it's as simple as raising $25 from 10 people. These pledges can be transformative in helping JUST to fulfill our mission to serve the inmates. All funds raised through pledges and sponsorships will go directly to support JUST's work.

For additional information, please contact Bri Fasano, Office Manager, at just@dupagesheriff.org or phone 630-407-2201.

Please support us this year and help end the stigma and end the silence associated with incarceration and mental illness.
