I joined JUST as a board member in 2019 through my relationship with other board members. I was first introduced to JUST while employed as a prosecutor for DuPage County, and was aware of the significant role the programs at JUST contributed to rehabilitating inmates.
I spent most of my career prosecuting criminal defendants shuffling in and out of jail, simply because they didn't have the resources or the skills to get back on the right path. Majority of these individuals were non-violent offenders with substance abuse issues that spiraled out of control. JUST seeks to break that cycle by providing inmates with skills to cope, through education and rehabilitation. As I have been involved in both the prosecution and defense, I believe I can provide a unique perspective in progressing the mission of JUST.
